Damian Barr's Literary Salon (In person)

Public Events
Date: 05 May 2022 19:30 - 21:00

Two of our most thrilling writers, award-winning author Kit de Waal (My Name Is Leon, Common People) and BAFTA & Emmy winning screenwriter Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Suffragette, The Hour), unveil their extraordinary new memoirs, in conversation with Damian Barr, at a very special Salon.

Without Warning & Only Sometimes: Scenes from an Unpredictable Childhood is Kit de Waal’s funny, honest and compelling story of growing up in a household of opposites and extremes. Her haphazard mother was a devout Jehovah’s Witness who believed the world would end in 1975. Her father was the opposite. Kit was caught between three worlds: Irish, Caribbean and British in 1960s Birmingham.

Abi Morgan’s This Is Not A Pity Memoir is intimate, poignant, heartbreaking and ultimately a love story about her husband Jacob and the day their lives would change forever: ‘This is the man I love, the man I have known for nearly twenty years. The man who have fought with and laughed with and loved with. The man who is never going to be the same again.’
