Write & Shine: Ways of Seeing – John Berger (Online)

Start your day with a burst of creativity!

Join Write & Shine bright and early, live from The London Library for a 90-minute virtual writing workshop that takes the work and ideas of John Berger as inspiration for our own writing.

John Berger (1926-2017), a critic, painter, poet and Booker-prize-winning novelist, became a London Library Member in 1984. “If I’m a storyteller,” he wrote, “It’s because I listen.” Expect a morning of writing and thinking as we consider how Berger changed the way people viewed art, his eye for detail, and the value he placed on listening and noticing.

This workshop is part of a series of morning writing sessions, led by author Gemma Seltzer, exploring the connections between image, writing and seeing in the work of former members of The London Library, as inspired by John Berger’s seminal book Ways of Seeing.

Write & Shine workshops takes place in the early morning light - the best time to think, dream and imagine! You won’t be expected to share your writing, which offers great freedom and encourages all kinds of fascinating ideas to emerge.

Login at 7.30am for 7.45am start. You will be sent a Zoom link a few days before the workshop (if you do not receive it, please check your junk file or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
